Prisons Headquarters is situated at Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram. Kerala Prisons & Corrcetional Services is headed by Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services who are being deputed by Goverment from IPS Cadre. He is assisted by Inspector General of Prisons / Deputy Inspector General of Prisons at Headquarters and by Deputy Inspector General of Prisons of South ,Central and North Zones. Administrative Officer and Senior Finance Officer are being posted on deputation basis at Prisons Headquarters to advise on Administrative and Financial matters respectively. Programme Officer is the Ministerial Head dealing with fund utilization under various modernization schemes. Chief Welfare Officer mainly deals with the programmes falling under Correctional Services with more emphasis on Welfare of prisoners. A Technical cell is functioning at Prison Headquarters to assist the department in technical matters and a State Prison Control Room is also functioning round the clock there to coordinate day-to-day operations.
